Industrial tours for students

Bring your class to Okara and let them see what the textbook only describes: real steel sheet checked against its mill certificate, a part cut by CNC straight from a drawing, a blank bent on the press brake, and how a steel trading business buys, prices and sells.

What your students will see

The tour follows one sheet through our store, from the bundle to a finished cut part, with time at every stop for questions.

  1. The sheet store

HR, CR and GI sheet and MS plate, kept by grade, thickness and size.

Learn: how the grades differ and what each one is used for.
  2. Mill certificates

How a bundle is checked against its certificate when it arrives, and why the certificate travels with every order.

Learn: reading a mill test certificate: chemistry, strength and traceability.
  3. Safe handling

Forklift and overhead crane: how heavy sheet is lifted to stock or onto the cutting table without damage.

Learn: material handling and safety on a working floor.
  4. CNC cutting

A drawing goes from the computer to the cutting table. Holes and cut-outs first, then the outer profile, with parts nested to save sheet.

Learn: CAD to CNC, nesting, kerf and scrap.
  5. Press-brake bending

A flat cut blank bent into an angle or channel, and checked for the right angle on the first part.

Learn: bend allowance, springback and tolerances.
  6. The trading desk

How a steel trader buys from the big markets, works out freight and costs, prices an order, and gets it to customers across Pakistan.

Learn: pricing, inventory and supply chain in a real business.

What runs on the floor depends on the work that day, so the exact parts being cut and bent will change from visit to visit.

Who the tours are for

Groups from universities, colleges, polytechnics and technical training institutes. Tell us what your students are studying and we'll spend more time on the parts that matter to them.

Your students might be our future engineers, operators and buyers, so we're glad to show them how the work is really done.

  • Mechanical, industrial and manufacturing engineering

CAD to CNC, nesting, bending and tolerances on real parts.

  • Metallurgy and materials

Steel grades, surface finishes and mill test certificates.

  • Polytechnic, DAE and technical training

Hands-on look at the machines, the setup and safe working.

  • Business, commerce and supply chain

How a trading company buys, stocks, prices and sells a commodity.
