Steel sheet for rice mills

Rice mill owners and machinery makers buy sheet and plate from us for hoppers, chutes, elevator casings, bins and machine covers, either as full sheets or cut and bent to the drawing, ready to weld and fit.

Typical grades and thicknesses

PartTypical material
Hoppers, chutes and spoutsHR or MS sheet, 2 – 4 mm (GI 1.5 – 2 mm where rust is the bigger problem)
Bucket elevator casings and headsHR or GI sheet, 1.5 – 3 mm
Paddy and rice bins, small silo panelsGI sheet, 1.5 – 3 mm
Husker, whitener and grader covers and guardsCR or GI sheet, 1 – 2 mm
Aspiration ducts and cyclonesGI sheet, 0.8 – 1.5 mm
Platforms, machine frames and base platesMS plate, 6 – 20 mm

Typical choices only. Paddy and husk wear sheet down where they flow fast, so chutes and hopper outlets often go a size thicker. Your machine design decides the final grade and thickness.

  • Spare parts that fit

Send a drawing, or the measurements of the worn part, and we cut the replacement to match. We keep the program for next time.

  • Cut and bent to your drawing

We CNC cut and press-brake bend parts in Okara, so you get finished pieces instead of full sheets to cut yourself.

  • Mill-certified sheet

HR, CR and GI sheet and MS plate from 0.5 to 25 mm, with mill certificates for every bundle.

Rice mill parts we cut and bend

  • Hopper panels and outlet gates

  • Bin and small silo panels
  • Husker, whitener and grader covers and guards
  • Aspiration ducts, cyclone panels and dust hoods
  • Conveyor troughs and covers
  • Platform plates, stair parts and machine base plates

Common questions

Which steel sheet is used in rice mill machinery?

Hot-rolled (HR) or mild steel sheet is common for hoppers, chutes and elevator casings, galvanized (GI) sheet for bins, aspiration ducts and covers that need to resist rust, and mild steel (MS) plate for platforms, frames and base plates. Parts where paddy and husk flow fast are often made a size thicker because they wear.

Can you make hoppers, chutes and elevator casings from my drawings?

Yes. Send a DXF or PDF and we can CNC cut and press-brake bend the panels, ready for your fabricator to weld and assemble.

Can you make replacement parts for an existing rice mill?

Yes. Send a drawing, or the measurements and photos of the worn part, and we can cut and bend a replacement. We keep the cutting program so the next one is quicker.

Can you get the steel to my mill?

We don't run our own trucks, but we load at Okara and can help you book a transporter to your mill. Tell us the location when you ask for a quote and we can include an estimate for the freight.
